“Everybody can be great because anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.” (Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.) For as long as I can remember, I’ve been surrounded by people who serve others in remarkable ways. My mother was the first person to show me how to care for people by giving of my time, talent, and a bit of treasure. She made it a priority for her children to experience the joy of serving.
Last month, I had the privilege of recognizing my mother and her legacy of serving others. I want to thank VolunteerNow (USA) for this amazing personal moment and for the service opportunities they provide to so many people.
Where are you serving? This is the question that I posed at the end of this video. Let it be a question that we ask so often to where it sets an expectation. Don’t ask me where I work. Don’t ask me where I live. Don’t ask me where I worship. Well, you can ask me all of these questions and I will answer. But I would love for you to FIRST ask me where do I serve.
Where are you giving of your time, talent, treasure, and/or thought leadership to make things better?
