In 2018, I began the year very focused on “reclaiming my time” as I started my first full year of retirement from AT&T. In 2019, I wanted to be “better” and 2020 found me wanting to have “vision” beyond what the natural eye could see. 2020 indeed turned out to be the year of perfect vision in so many ways. Both pandemics (COVID-19 and social injustice) led me to highlight “courage” as my word for 2021. Now, it’s 2022 and I want to be found using my “voice” for good and amplifying issues that need attention.
I hope to speak for those who have been silenced or never had a voice. I want to help people find their voice. I want to help foster a community culture that demonstrates by action and traction that every voice matters. I want to be an effective voice for children in need of permanence and stability. In order to use my voice and really hear the voice of others, I need to sharpen my ability to discern God’s voice. What does He want me to say and do?
I am envisioning a 2022 that will find me partnered with others, using our collective expressions and utterances (aka voices) for good. I will constantly remind myself to speak up and I promise to listen intently when others do the same. Let’s lift our voices.
